Sunday Bowling League News

Team Numbers Have Changed:

To All Teams
Please be aware that because we lost 2 teams (Team #2 and Team #16 - the BYE team) we have had a change in team numbers. You are now one number lower than the number you had at the begining of the season ACCEPT TEAM #1 - THE X-MEN. So, if your team was #5, as mine was, you are now #4 and so on. It is reflected in the team rosters that can be found in the "Downloads" section of the website.

Sorry for any confusion this may cause, but there was simply no way around it. When you lose teams mid-season, things change. Thank you for your understanding.

New Season Schedule:

8/30/09 - Meet and Greet Bowl
This year we will be meeting on Sunday, August 30th to welcome all bowlers, new and old, to the league. Because we need a head count, please RSVP by clicking this link. The fee will be $30 for up to three (3) games, including shoe rental. Bring your friends! We would love to meet them.

9/13/09 - New Season "No-Tap" Bowl, Captain and Newcomer Meetings
On September 13th, SBL will hold its yearly "No-Tap" Bowl! Come and join the fun! It is a great way for you to get back into the fray! For those of you that don't know or don't remember, No-Tap bowling is where a 9-pin roll on your first ball counts as a strike! That's right! Rack up the points!

Captains:
Before bowling begins on September 13th, we will hold our annual Captains Meeting promptly at 6pm. Please be sure to attend. For new teams, if your team has not chosen a captain yet, please send a team representative. Before the meeting,
download this PDF file, fill it out and save it with your team's name. Bring it with you or email it to Jeffrey Bonacci.

Newcomers:
A special orientation for new members will take place immediately after the Captains Meeting at 6:30pm. If you are a new bowler, or a former SBL member who did not bowl last season, you must attend this meeting. We will review the league rules with you and answer any questions you may have.

9/27/09 - SBL Official Season Kick-off
Due to an event at the alley on September 20th, our league will officially start 2 weeks after our "No-Tap" bowl on September 27th. We look forward to seeing everyone and can't wait to make friends with all newcomers.

SBL 2009/2010 Season Reminder And Notification:
Hello Bowlers! We hope you have all enjoyed the summer so far. It is that time again, and that time is to start thinking about next year's season of Sunday Bowling! We have some announcements that we would like to share with you, so I hope you read through this email so you get all the information we intended to share with you.

New Season - New (old) Lanes - Same Great Price!
Some of you may or may not know that, at the end of last year's season, we were in negotiations to move our league back to Chelsea Piers and "300 New York". Well, through much deliberation and persistence on Ross Hewitt's part, we are proud to announce that we will, indeed, be returning to Chelsea Piers "300 New York" this year for SBL 2009-2010! For those of you that are unaware, "300 New York" is located between piers 59 and 60, at 23rd Street. You can check out their web site by clicking on this link.

In addition to our return to "300", we will also be starting 1 HOUR EARLIER!!! YAY!! So, for the 2009-2010 season, we will be starting our bowling at 7:00pm! I am sure that this news is as exciting for you as it was for us! Also, on Sunday Aug 30th we will have a practice and welcoming session for new bowlers at 7 PM. Please make sure to mark this on tour calendars!

Help Us Find New Bowlers!
Seeing as how we are going to be going back to our old, familiar stomping (or throwing as the case may be) ground, we would LOVE to have a larger participation this year! Ross has posted a sign at the LGBT center where people can pick up business cards, but word of mouth is always the best way for us to find new, interested members. Please make sure you forward this email to anyone you think may be interested, or if you know of someone who would like to bowl this year, please make sure they contact Ross Hewitt or Jeffrey Bonacci, and they will make sure that they send them all pertinent information regarding the league.

As always, thank you for making SBL a great place to be! Without your continued support, we couldn't possibly be the incredible league that we are! Cheers!
